To clean grease off kitchen cabinets before you paint them we like to spray down all surfaces with krud kutter then scrub them really well. It still attacks the grease and that is what you want to get rid of and isn t as stinky as the denatured alcohol. Harsh scrubbing can damage kitchen cabinets finish or paint. Clean them as good as you can getting in all the nooks and crannies.

And after you re done drink a nice glass of wine to celebrate your superhuman cleaning skills. Make sure you clean both sides of the doors and drawers and all the nooks and crannies of the frames. It is recommended that you thoroughly clean your cabinets before painting with a sponge and denatured alcohol. To make it a bit easier we use brushes that you can attach to a drill or impact driver.

First clean with mineral spirits then wipe it down with a rag that is moistened with clean fresh water. Instead prepare your own gentle cleaner. And i always recommend cleaning down cabinetry in the kitchen bath or laundry room prior to painting. Rinse thoroughly and allow the cabinets to dry before painting.

You don t want to have to work harder to sand off all the extra grease on your kitchen cabinets and you don t want to be painting over grease. Take off all hardware then tape around any areas where you don t want paint to inadvertently land. Wipe down the cabinets with a rag dipped in a mix of straight vinegar or a 1 1 mix of vinegar and warm water with a few drops of liquid dish soap.
